Getting Started with Educational Vlogging
1. Start small
Start with short vlogs and simple but clear assignments. Pupils do not need to create sophisticated films to develop communication, collaboration, and digital skills.
2. Let pupils take ownership
Don't be afraid if the pupils know more about the vlog genre than the teacher. You can give pupils opportunities to negotiate topics and learning goals.
The pupils can also plan their vlog, write a script, find appropriate locations for filming, and explore creative ways of presenting their ideas on camera. When pupils have ownership of the content, they are often more engaged in the learning process.
3. Give students a real audience
Pupils are often more motivated when their work is shared with other classes, schools, or the local community.
4. Connect with another school
Schools looking for international partners may use eTwinning to establish contacts and explore collaboration opportunities. eTwinning provides a trusted environment for schools across Europe to meet and develop project ideas.
Many schools also find it useful to continue communication through channels and platforms they already use in their daily work, provided that data protection requirements and school policies are respected.
5. Learn from existing projects
Explore pupil vlogs, learning resources, and experiences from the ViBes project for inspiration and ideas for your own projects.
